”New dimensions in felting - creating depth and shape with fabric” (webinar recording)
Today we have an inspiring and relaxed moment ahead of you, where you will learn how to make a picture with fabrics on a wool base. This is a technique that combines sensitivity and creativity - and is suitable for absolutely everyone, including beginners. I want to show you how small pieces can turn into something unique. It's not just a craft - it's a way to express yourself and find peace in the midst of everyday life.
When I was thinking about what I could offer as a topic for an open webinar, it wasn't easy - my courses cover so many different topics, and you go into them all in depth. One of my courses focuses on making felted products such as scarves, bags, slippers and even clothing. The other is about visual expression with wool - covering composition, theory and artistic vision in relation to felting.

Technology
This is one of the most fascinating techniques of felting - application to a felt base. All you need is a few fabrics and some wool, and you can still create really spectacular and colourful images.
The technique is light and suitable for beginners, but there are a few important tricks to help you achieve a beautiful and long-lasting result.
The finished work is surprisingly strong - so strong that it can be used for practical purposes. And this is what often gets my students' praise: they say that their work is not only beautiful, but also durable. This technique combines joy, creativity and functionality - just the way I love it myself.
Materials from
For today's work, we need a light and sparse fabric - one where the weaves and warps are clearly visible and where the wool fibres can be easily attached. The fabric can be silk, chiffon, gauze or any other thin and translucent material. Small patches are also suitable. These can be found in pieces of Euro fabric, for example, or you can use an old silk scarf.
In addition, we only need a few grams of wool. Wool can be anything, but the finer it is, the smoother and more beautiful the result. Personally, I use 18 micron merino wool.
And of course we also need soap and a piece of bubble wrap.

You can choose how and in what colour you want to lay out the fabrics, but the most important thing is to fold the edges and put wool in between. The wool should be a very thin layer so that the work does not become too thick.

This picture is made using the same principles as the previous one - but without as much folding, so the result is a little smoother. Take a peek at this example for inspiration and see how you can create mood and shape in different ways.
And the third one is a cute bunny
Here I made the feet out of wool, but there are many alternatives. If you want, you can also make the bunny's legs out of fabric - just put a layer of wool between the fabrics. Feel free to experiment with different materials, and even look for fabrics with pretty patterns - they're great to use and felt into the work. In this video I demonstrated the wet felting process in more detail.
