The Arctic Wool Festival will also be held on the opening day. A day full of wool, art, creativity, hands-on activities and a northern atmosphere.

What does the centre offer?

Immersive exhibition
An immersive exhibition creates an environment where light, sound and art combine to transport you to another level of consciousness. It is an experience where you are part of the whole, not just a spectator.

Workshops
The workshops provide an opportunity to experience the power of hands-on making. An opportunity to experience first-hand how wool transforms in your hands. This is an experience that strengthens the balance between mind and body.

Studio
The studio is the heart of creativity: a living creative space where art is made by hand, and where you can see the process up close.

Shop & café
The shop brings together works and products made from various weavers' wool, and the cafe offers the opportunity to enjoy tea, coffee, and a warm atmosphere.

Villa museum
Information on wool as a material, its properties, structure, and various uses.

Art Trail
The Art Trail takes you to nature, where art and environment merge into one. It invites you to stop, breathe and experience the connection.
Book a visit to the Arctic Wool Experience Centre
During your visit, you can explore wool art, felt works, the exhibition space, and handmade products amidst the natural surroundings of the North. The space has been built as a place where wool, art, creativity, and the Lappish atmosphere meet in a unique way.
Visits are by appointment to ensure everyone has a peaceful opportunity to experience the place at their own pace.

Select a suitable day from the calendar and an arrival time, and send a booking request. You will receive a confirmation by email. Arctic Wool The Experience Centre opens to visitors in August 2026.

Group courses
Wool is one of nature's most versatile materials, and ELLUNHUOPA's drying courses allow you to delve into its world. On this journey you will learn new techniques and discover something new about yourself at the same time. You will learn to trust your skills, give space to your creativity and achieve inner peace. Under Elku's guidance, your crafting will reach a whole new level.
Art workshop in Sodankylä
Arctic Wool Experience Center is located in the beautiful landscape of Lapland, only about 15 km from the centre of Sodankylä, in the direction of Kemijärvi. The centre is located near Lake Orajärvi, surrounded by peaceful nature.
In the immediate vicinity there are several Accommodation options and services that make a visit easy and comfortable. Sodankylä's town centre offers a wider range of services, and local accommodation providers cooperate with the centre to offer tourists a complete experience.

The Arctic Wool Experience Centre investment has received co-financing from the European Union through rural funding via Leader Pohjoisin Lappi ry. The aim of the investment is to develop the Arctic Wool Experience Centre visitor attraction in Sodankylä.
