We are open all year round by prior booking.
You can come and explore the centre on a guided Touch & Feel visit, take part in a group experience or delve into wool painting in a guided workshop. All visits and workshops are booked in advance. This way I can prepare for each group and offer guests the best possible experience.

What does the centre offer?
Immersive exhibition
An immersive exhibition creates an environment where light, sound and art combine to transport you to another level of consciousness. It is an experience where you are part of the whole, not just a spectator.
Workshops
The workshops provide an opportunity to experience the power of hands-on making. An opportunity to experience first-hand how wool transforms in your hands. This is an experience that strengthens the balance between mind and body.
Studio
The studio is the heart of creativity: a living creative space where art is made by hand, and where you can see the process up close.
Villapuoti
In the Wool Shop you will find works created from wool, handmade products, gifts, souvenirs and Lapland travel mementoes from various makers.
Villa museum
Information on wool as a material, its properties, structure, and various uses.
Lapland hut
In the Lapland kota located in the courtyard, you can spend time by the open fire, grill sausages and enjoy, for example, hot chocolate or coffee.

Touch & Feel visit | 1 h
Guided tour of the centre, the villa and wool art. Adults €15, students and pensioners €10, 7–15 year-olds €7, under 7s free of charge.
Group experience – Wildlife safari | 2 h
Guided tour and guided activities with wool. €450 / group (maximum 10 people), thereafter +€40 / person.
Villa drawing workshop | 3 h
Wild painting technique and creating your own canvas with personal guidance. 1–2 people €500, 3–5 people €750, 6–9 people €1,100.

Arctic Wool Experience Center invites you to experience the warmth of wool, the power of northern nature and creativity. A place where you can escape from everyday life for a moment and encounter something authentic.
Villa drawing workshop
Creativity belongs to everyone. Using it does not require special talent or previous experience. The workshop is guided by a wool artist Elena Bondar, who has years of experience in wool, art and teaching.
Elena's own approach to teaching differs from a traditional craft course: instead of following ready-made patterns, you learn to see the possibilities of the material, use wool like colours and find your own way of making.
During the workshop, you will learn the technique of wool painting and make your own felt picture under personal guidance. For many, it is a surprise how much you can express with wool and how quickly your own creativity begins to show in the work.
Art workshop in Sodankylä
Arctic Wool Experience Center is located in the beautiful landscape of Lapland, only about 15 km from the centre of Sodankylä, in the direction of Kemijärvi. The centre is located near Lake Orajärvi, surrounded by peaceful nature.
The centre of Sodankylä offers a wider range of services, and local hosts are cooperating with the centre to offer travellers a complete experience.
The Arctic Wool Experience Center is not a place you come and go. It is a journey that continues inside you. It gives you strength, inspiration, courage and love for life.
Stay right next to AWEC
Located about 100 metres from the Centre are two cosy Afra Arctic Cabin cottages. Each cottage accommodates up to 4 people, making the accommodation well suited for couples, families and small groups who want to combine a visit to the Centre with a longer stay in Lapland.

The Arctic Wool Experience Centre investment has received co-financing from the European Union through rural funding via Leader Pohjoisin Lappi ry. The aim of the investment is to develop the Arctic Wool Experience Centre visitor attraction in Sodankylä.
