Runes are signs of Viking magic
I have long been interested in runes and their purposes. Last year, I was able to delve deeper into this theme. Runes are a sign system whose use is art. Runes can be used in many different ways, for example, they can be used to predict and provide an opportunity to better understand oneself. They can also be used to make magic spells. You can find more information about runes online, this story does not tell you more about runes.
You get what space
While visiting one of the mansions, I accidentally found runes in the family album. The owners said they were found on the wall during the renovation. It was interesting to see that in Finland, too, it is written with runes. It was agreed with the owners of the manor that I would make a felt board out of them. The felt board on the wall of the log cabin looks great! Excited, I accepted the order because I wanted to be a part of this story.
In the production of this project, I used Finnish and Norwegian wool, which I brought when I visited last year at an international felting event. The size of the painting was about 40-45cm. I had never made such a thick board, it was about 1.5 cm thick. I made it thick on purpose. As is known from history, runes were made of stone, bone, or wood. Scratching was making incisions or scratching. Although the material of the painting was wool, I still wanted to make the runes on the same principle, i.e. the runes are embedded in the felt, not just drawn by needle felting. I made the board three-dimensional by wet felting, I used the barrier felting method.
Meanings of runes
I can't say if I read the symbols completely correctly, but I guess the author meant the following:
Rune sentences contain poems: Isa + Algis. Probably their purpose was to protect against negative energies. In other words, Isa freezes negative energy. However, if one could get through the “Father,” “Algis” would protect the people of the house as well as the house from evil, that is, in a way, “hide” from evil.
The fact is that over the years the old wooden house has remained in excellent condition, as have the residents, despite their age, are well and fresh.
